Job Title: Project Manager

Position Function: Coordinate and direct all phases of Project Management activities to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion on assigned projects while meeting the customer requirements and intended scope of supply.

Relevant Skills: Must have the ability to interface with others on a technical level; must have strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to interact with a diverse group of individuals. Must be a self-starter and be able to manage ambiguity effectively. Ability to handle stress produced by time pressure, design flaws, customer demands, etc.

Required Education: A 4-year degree required, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Technology, or equivalent experience.

Required Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience in a design-engineering field with some project management experience preferred or equivalent experience.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to move freely within FREUND Inc. and customer facilities including new construction; must be able to climb and descend stairs several times daily; travel as required by the project.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Tasks:

  1. Coordinate and direct all phases of Project Management activities on assigned projects, which include but not limited to the following:
    1. Responsible for directing activities of design engineering staff on assigned projects. Responsible for the generation and execution of schedules as necessary.
    2. Review system requirements and estimated project costs. Notify company of any issues and drive the resolution of those issues to the customer and FREUND Inc. management as necessary.
    3. Serve as the main customer contact point for the execution of projects. Responsible for maintaining communication with the customer regarding technical specifications, schedule, scope of work, and problem resolution. Serve as the customer’s primary contact and resource regarding the installation of the equipment.
    4. Serve as the primary communication contact to the Manufacturing department for assigned projects regarding the release, procurement, assembly, test, and shipment of equipment associated with the project.
    5. Maintain communication with Product Management, field sales and the customer regarding project execution issues.
    6. Responsible for coordinating all project startup and field validation activities at the customer’s facility. Responsible for closing out all remaining open issues after the startup.
    7. Responsible for technical, financial, and schedule performance of projects from design through the completion of start-up and/or field validation.
    8. Complete documentation that complies with ISO quality procedures.
    9. Complete/coordinate all necessary customer/project documentation.
    10. Provide cost accountability for projects.
  2. Recommend and drive improvements throughout the organization, as appropriate, to improve the project execution processes throughout FREUND Inc., even on issues not related to their current assigned projects.
  3. Travel as necessary for the execution of projects ranging from Pre-Sale activities to Start-Up support.
  4. Protect and maintain confidentiality of sensitive company information, client data, proprietary knowledge, and any other confidential information/materials.

Discretionary Tasks:

  1. Assist in preparation of equipment and system descriptions to be used in the quote process.
  2. Verify equipment manuals and spare parts list for accuracy and completeness.
  3. Determine status of scrap/rework parts in Assembly.
  4. Provide any project service required that is not a clear responsibility of any other department or group.
